Beginnings – Multifamily

Wampold Companies was founded in 1982 by Milford “Mike” Wampold III. Wampold got his start developing apartment complexes throughout South Louisiana. These developments were financed by the Farmers Home Administration under their Rural Housing Program.

In 1986 Wampold Companies competitively bid and was awarded a contract to build, own and manage 600 military family housing apartments at Fort Polk in Louisiana. The development was the first of its kind in the US under the section 801 multifamily housing program. The development, on 2 separate sites, was branded Sycamore Point and Timber Ridge which Wampold Companies continues to own and manage today.

In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s during the economic down turn and oil bust in Louisiana, Wampold Companies acquired, renovated and repositioned 15 multifamily communities throughout Louisiana from Shreveport to New Orleans including Baton Rouge and Lafayette. These properties totaled approximately 5,000 apartment units. Wampold Companies continues to own and manage a majority of these properties today.
